Marie-José Eisden was born in Curaçao and graduated from VU University Amsterdam in 2006 with a degree in Dutch private law. After obtaining her master’s degree, she started working as a lawyer at television producer Endemol Nederland. A year later, she joined the BREIN foundation, where she worked on behalf of authors and neighboring rights holders to enforce their rights on the internet. Although she enjoyed working as a lawyer at the BREIN Foundation, she decided to settle in Curaçao after three years. There, she was sworn in on September 14, 2010, and registered with the Joint Court of Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, and Saba.

Marie-José is co-founder of True Lawyers and is registered as a trademark attorney with the Intellectual Property Office in Curaçao and Sint Maarten. In October 2020, Marie-José was appointed by the Minister of Justice as a member of the Police Conduct Complaints Committee and she has served on the board of the Curaçao Bar Association for over six years.

Marie-José focuses primarily on personal and family law, (financial) criminal law, and intellectual property law. She has extensive experience in litigating criminal and family law cases and is committed to continuously improving the personal situations of her clients. Not only when the legal problem already exists, but preferably proactively and at an early stage, so that problems can be prevented or at least not escalate.
